Jason Byrne – Cirque Du Byrne.

November 3rd

Welcome to Jason Byrne’s world. Cirque Du Byrne, Jason’s latest show has played to packed houses all over the world. He brings it to Ireland for a very limited run due to time constraints which means he is just playing his very favourite Irish venues. Cirque Du Byrne mixes stand up, chat and ... well it’s Jason, you know the drill, except that Jason knows you know the drill. So join him as once again he goes one step further than any other performer dares to go. See the most exciting live stand up in the world today pull back the curtain and let you spend a couple of hours inside his head. There is no more uproarious, drink spraying out your mouth and nose kind of way to spend an evening than on the inside of Jason Byrne’s head especially when your host is the poor bastard who has to live there permanently.

‘A quick silver mind and a touch of madness make him one of the all time greats’ – Time Out.

‘An hour of stand up so joyous the clinically depressed should get it on prescription’ – Metro.

July 27th

This August Bank holiday weekend, the INEC is delighted to present the Celtic Rock Festival!

Friday, July 29th sees the return of the fantastic Big Country performing - with special guests The Devlins. Legendary 80s Scottish stars Big Country have just performed at The Isle of Wight Festival and are set to take the stage at Oxegen – before coming to Killarney to headline the first night of the Celtic Rock Festival. The band broke internationally in 1983 with their debut album The Crossing – a record that sold over 2 million copies and earned Big Country 3 Grammy nominations. Their subsequent four albums, Steeltown which debuted at No:1 (1984), The Seer (1986), Peace In Our Time (1988) and No Place Like Home (1991) were all certified gold on release and took the bands total record sales tally to five million. Special guests on the night will be Irish rockers The Devlins.

Then get ready for Saturday, July 30th – it’s set to be a stomper! Simple Minds are coming to town for their only Irish show this year! Formed in 1977, Simple Minds is Scotland’s most successful rock group to date.  Having topped America’s Billboard chart, the Glasgow band have achieved six No.1 albums in the UK as well hitting the top spot in countless other countries. Joining them on the night will be the brilliant and only recently reformed Cry Before Dawn and Cactus World News. Cactus World News delighted fans with the news that they would be reforming after 20 years (with the exception of Eoin McEvoy) to play this special show in Killarney!

Tickets for Simple Minds, Cry Before Dawn and Cactus World Party on Saturday, July 30th are €49.20/€54.80 including booking fee

There will be no sitting back, everyone will be on their feet for The Champions!
July 7th

Showband favorites Gina, Dale Haze and The Champions return to INEC, Gleneagle, Killarney on Saturday, July 23.  Gina, Dale Haze and The Champions were one of the most popular bands on the dancing and concert scene in Ireland during the 1970s, 1980s and into the 90s with over 20 hit singles, several best selling albums and appearances on numerous television and radio shows. Their many hits include Do Ya Wanna' Do It, The Greatest Lover, Minnie Minnie, Drunken Sailor, Give Me Back My Love and of course their debut hit Dreams are Good Friends.

After almost twenty years touring together, the band members all went their separate ways in the early 90’s, some staying in the music business and others choosing to get out of it altogether. In 2007 they reformed to huge acclaim with sell-out concerts throughout Ireland. One of the very pleasant surprises for the band was seeing a lot of old faces in the audiences. "We always came out front to talk to people after each gig and so we got to know many of the regular faces in the different venues around Ireland,” said Gina.  “We decided to continue this tradition and I can’t get over how many of those same people turn up again to see us play. Some even bring along their teenage children with them, it is wonderful,” said Gina.

Tickets to see Gina, Dale Haze and The Champions cost €20 and are on sale now from the INEC Box Office. Tel 064 6671555 or log onto www.inec.ie

Get your cowboy hats ready, because the INEC has gone Country!

June 23rd

Grammy award winning Country Music Singers will be descending on the INEC later this year.  Its has just been announced that country king Brad Paisley will play the INEC this summer, August 21st!  Brad Paisley for those who have been living in their own work is a consummate singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer, which has earned him 3 GRAMMY’s, 14 Country Music Association Awards and 13 Academy of Country Music Awards.  He has 18 #1 singles and has released nine critically acclaimed studio albums.
With this announcement came more exciting country music news, Glen Campbell will return for his final tour to the INEC on November 12th.  Glen Campbell “The Goodbye Tour” will feature some of his legendary classic and his fresh new sound. Don’t miss you final chance to see this country music legend live!

They say Laughter is the best Medicine, I think we will all have to agree!

June 9th

The INEC is very excited about the announcement of two of the most sought out comedians in the World, Mister Tommy Tiernan and Mister Jimmy Carr!

Tommy Tiernan is very much in tune with his own deepest, darkest and embarrassing thoughts and the perils of turning 40, which luckily for us he is not shy about sharing.  Cursed rather than blessed with a sense of honesty, integrity and outrage, as ever with a Tiernan show, the devil is in the detail.  Beautifully crafted flights of fancy dripping with subtle phrasing, coupled with ingenious unexpected twists all delivered with Tiernans trademark verve, mark this show out as a truly unmissable event. Tommy Tiernan will play the INEC on July 8th!

Jimmy Carr has been a ‘fun slinger’ of international repute. ‘Laughter Therapy’ is his ninth solo show. It’ll be an evening of none stop jokes, gags and banter.
If you’ve got a sick sense of humour then maybe laughter is the best medicine. Not to be taken if you have a sensitive disposition or an overactive moral compass. Recommended dose: one brand new show to be taken annually (I said annually). Jimmy Carr will play the INEC on November 25th!

Its true what they say, 'There is no show like a Joe Show'!
May 24th

When Joe Dolan died of a brain hemorrhage last December there was a huge outpouring of grief. Thousands filled Mullingar's Cathedral of Christ the King to pay their respects to the singer and his mourning family.

It may be more than five year's since the untimely passing of the legendary Joe Dolan but one saying still holds true – 'there's no show like a Joe show'.

With this in mind, the Gleneagle Hotel, Joe Dolan's home away from home, have organized a special weekend to celebrate the man, his music and the outstanding contribution he made to the showband genre.

The Dolan Family and James Cafferty present 'Joe Dolan, The Reunion Show' -- a live production that reunites former band-mates with a video projected Joe. All music heard is performed Live except for Joe's vocals.  Also, Ben Dolan will narrate the life story of his younger brother Joe, with whom he'd shared a stage for forty-seven fun-filled years.

It is set to be a poignant, inspiring and uplifting event that will honor the life and successful times of the Mullingar international superstar. Showband legends Dickie Rock and Brendan Bowyer will both perform in the legendary Gleneagle Ballroom, so expect to hear all the classics including Every Step of the Way, The Hucklebuck and I Ran All the Way Home.

Five decades of endless magic rolled into one spectacular weekend, July 8th – 10th!

What if three Wise Men were Women?
May 5th

Love, sex, birth, death, dildos and salsa classes: Little Gem sees three generations of Dublin women on a wild and constantly surprising journey.

After sell-out seasons in New York, London and Paris and a sold-out 7-week run at Ireland’s National Theatre and a run at the Olympia (with MCD), Gúna Nua and Civic Theatre are bringing their bittersweet comedy Little Gem on a countrywide tour.

Gúna Nua director and founder Paul Meade first read Elaine Murphy’s Little Gem in 2008 and promptly staged and directed the impressive debut in the Dublin Fringe Festival where it won several awards and went on to great acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009.

Kay’s got an itch that Gem can’t scratch (but maybe Kermit can) … Lorraine attacks a customer at work and her boss wants her to see a psychiatrist … Amber has fierce bad indigestion and the sambucas aren’t getting rid of it. And then there’s Paul, the bollix, who is just using Amber until he can get to Australia … and there’s the hairy man who fancies Lorraine but fails to rise to the occasion … and of course Gem , who doesn’t like the neighbours coming in to ‘mind’ him. If all that wasn’t bad enough, Little Gem makes his presence felt and life is never the same again.

Under the direction of Paul Meade, the cast interweave their characters’ life experiences as they cope with modern life’s daily pressures and the heart-breaking toll of inevitable tragedies, expertly blending slapstick humour and sharp comic timing with strength, courage and honesty.

LITTLE GEM premiered at the 2008 Dublin Fringe Festival and it was an immediate sell out success. It received the Dublin Fringe Festival/Fishamble Best New Play and Best Female Performance Awards (awarded to the entire Cast) and was subsequently nominated for Best Play and Best Actress  (Anita Reeves) at the Irish Times Theatre Awards. Little Gem was subsequently awarded the BBC Northern Ireland Drama Award (Stewart Parker Trust Annual Awards). It premiered in the UK at Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2009. The show sold out early in the run and was awarded the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award. On returning to Dublin it won the Best Theatre Script awarded by the Irish Playwrights and Screenwriters Guild. The show premiered in the US at The Flea Theatre, New York on January 5th 2010 as part of the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award. The show then opened in the Peacock on January 19th and was sold out within two weeks. In march, 2010 the show opened at the Bush Theatre in London where it ran for 7 weeks before touring to Paris and back to Ireland for a 2-week run at the Everyman Palace in Cork. After its run at The Olympia the play will tour Ireland and the UK before heading down under for a 2-month tour of Australia

Check out this superb show at the INEC May 25th, tickets only €25

Little Gem has received some of the best awards and reviews in theatre throughout the world and they are coming to the INEC on May 25th.  “Kay’s got an itch that Gem can’t scratch (but maybe Kermit can)… Lorraine attacks a customer at work and her boss wants her to see a psychiatrist … Amber has fierce bad indigestion and the sambucas aren’t getting rid of it. Then there’s Paul, who’s just using Amber until he can get to Australia … and there's the hairy man who fancies Lorraine but fails to rise to the occasion… and of course Gem, who doesn’t like the neighbours coming in to ‘mind’ him. And if all that wasn’t bad enough, Little Gem makes his presence felt and well....life is never the same again.”  This is a definite one that is not to be missed!

Acoustic Kings Return - keeping Dinosaurs at arms length.....

13th April

The Acoustic Club will be buzzing this summer with fresh new tours from our favourite Irish acts. Lisa Hannigan will play on June 17th with her exciting new album she has spent recording in a country cottage in Wales. Fionn Regan, an artist we have not yet seen in the Acoustic Club will play on July 22nd. His sincere musical talent will have you dazzled by the end of his acoustic gig. Finally we have added another new act for all ‘trad’ lovers. The energetic Alan Kelly Quartet will be joined by Eddi Reader in a spectacular Irish music gig.

New Acts to grace the INEC stage

Erth’s Dinosaur Petting Zoo is one of the most spectacular puppet exhibitions ever seen. It has travelled to world wild audiences and given children and adults alike a hands on experience with these monstrous creatures.

Joan Armatrading joins us Sept 25th 2010. The 3 times Grammy nominated British singer songwriter is the first female UK artist to have debuted at number 1 in the Billboards Blues charts. Her strong rhythmic acoustic guitar playing and her melodic electric solos help to make her the consummate musician.

The High Kings return to us for 3 dates in the summer, July 9th and 16th and August 27th. After there sell out shows in the INEC last year, they will return to have your feet tapping and hands clapping with their exciting new performances.

Finally, there is no show like a Joe Show so it’s back again. The Joe Dolan Reunion Weekend is back again due to popular demand. The weekend takes everyone through the classic that made Joe Dolan an iconic artist of Ireland. Coming rocking with us a celebrate his extraordinary life through music from The Dolans, Dickie Rock, Brendan Boyer and many more!

Thrilling new acts!
6th April

This week we added some exciting new acts to our line up, get ready to be serenaded by country music’s biggest star through the ultimate Gareth Brooks experience “Friends in Low Places”. You can even go jammin’ during Ireland’s Bike Fest with “Legend”, a celebration of the life and music of Bob Marley 30th Anniversary Tour or why not join the King of Pop for ‘Thriller Live’ “A musical celebration of Michael Jackson & The Jackson 5” Direct from London’s West End!

Comical Theatre was very popular this week when the INEC announced they were bringing back “Grumpy Old Women” on May 20th. After receiving 5 star reviews the trio will once again have you falling off your chairs with the laughter! “Little Gem” was announced to take the stage on May 25th after selling out theatres through New York, London and Dublin.

We most definitely have to thank the teens who absolutely stole the show @Teen Spirit 3 in the INEC last Friday night. Their creative minds and talented young voices lead us through the most beautiful Christian and modern songs! And of course to the man himself, Christy Moore who had yet another sell out show in the INEC. The audience sat in silence as Christy and Declan entwined the old with the new in a beautiful intimate gig.
